Space
Mini Galerie is pleased to present Space, the very first solo exhibition by Zedz with the gallery.
Zedz (1971) is an infamous Dutch graffiti artist, who currently lives and works in Milan, Italy. Originating from the Leiden world of graffiti, Zedz incorporates typographical and lineal techniques learned at this time into his contemporary work, which covers a diverse range of media, from murals and paintings to computer graphics and sculpture. Influenced by the principles and ideology of De Stijl, Zedz plays with the concept of geometry as a tool for self expression, treasuring its abstract experimental nature. His work can thus be seen as a continuation and revival of, as well as a new take on, the techniques employed by artists such as Piet Mondrian.
The exhibition presents a new body of works, consisting of detailed paper assemblages and a new series of one-of-a-kind silkscreens. Accompanying the exhibition Zedz launches a full-colour magazine and a special limited edition hand-printed zine.
