Cracks in the Soft Spot
Mini Galerie is proud to present a solo show with Clemens Behr, titled Cracks in the Soft Spot. This exhibition is our second solo show with Behr following his Small Works exhibition in 2015.
Exclusively for this exhibition Clemens Behr has developed a new body of work, featuring pieces composed of various everyday building materials. Using this type of materials is a way to reframe indoor architecture, disrupting the regularity in which it usually appears. The fragmented nature of the works gives the impression that they have been broken down, yet there is a contradiction here with the fact that by nature, as artistic works, they have been created. Behr situates these works on the border of completeness and incompleteness. The fleeting image of a piece breaking just at the moment of its completion is something Behr explored with the works for this show.
Berlin-based artist Clemens Behr (Koblenz 1985) has gained international recognition for his work which is characterised by the use of an assemblage of materials, his inclination towards spontaneity and desire for exploration of space. Within his site-specific practice Behr has in the past created complex sculptural installations and imposing geometric murals that reflect the architecture of the surrounding environment. The space acts as a defining element in his impromptu working process.
