Studio Day Graphic Surgery
Last week we spent a day in the studio of Graphic Surgery, where they are working on a new body of works for their next solo exhibition Diagonal at Mini Galerie. It has been three years since their last solo exhibition in the gallery. Back then we also visited Gysbert and Erris in their studio. It was small and packed, and located in the east of Amsterdam. About one year ago they changed places and moved into a new studio in the former dental center ACTA, next to the underground club Radion, in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Let’s admit, this studio is bigger, better and brighter!
For their coming solo exhibition the artists are exploring the various ways in which they can express their significant style. Where their last two solo exhibitions focused on a specific series (i.e. Increment at Galerie Celal in Paris on their layered and complex works, Decrement at Galerie T in Düsseldorf on their box shaped works) Diagonal will showcase the broad range of their art practice, exhibiting their spatial Intrusive Structures and minimal Deconstructions next to their Increment and Decrement series.
