Transitions 02
A solo exhibition by Line Busch
KEVN, Galileistraat 2 in Eindhoven
On view till November 20th
Line Busch is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen. Her practice is dedicated to the interplay of colours and the “small vibrations” that arise between them. A long-time experimenter with optical illusion, Busch is a trained tweaker of perception, with a body of work that illuminates how light can bring life to the inanimate and soul to the soulless. Her paintings breathe along with the gradient flow of colour within them. Through the manual twisting and fixing of canvas strips onto her frame, Busch adds another dimension to her work, pushing it closer to the sculptural sphere. The irregularity in form of the canvas cut outs contrast to the otherwise systematic use of colour and materials, culminating in what Busch terms “perfect imperfections”.
With her solo show Transitions 02, Busch encourages interaction between viewer and work, inviting the eyes to linger and find the rhythm of each piece. The gradual transition of one tone to another brings the illusion of movement within the works, a movement which flows through one work and into the next. Inspired by her time in Malaga, Busch’s work captures the vibrancy of the clear, sharp and contrasting colours of the summer, and each piece casts its energy out upon the viewer.
