OX
OX (b. 1963, France) is a French visual artist known for his striking billboard interventions and urban art. Originally trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, OX began his artistic career in the 1980s as a member of the influential French graffiti collective Les Frères Ripoulin, alongside artists such as Pierre Huyghe and Claude Closky. The group was known for taking over advertising spaces and inserting playful, often surrealist imagery into the urban landscape.
Since the 2000s, OX has focused primarily on creating abstract and site-specific billboard works, blending bold geometric shapes, patterns, and colors into public advertising frames. His interventions are often humorous, visually engaging, and subtly critical of consumer culture. By subverting commercial spaces, OX invites viewers to reconsider the visual language of public space and the pervasive influence of advertising.
OX’s works have appeared across Europe and internationally, both in urban environments and in gallery exhibitions. He remains committed to working in the public domain, often photographing his ephemeral works and sharing them through books, exhibitions, and online platforms.
