We are delighted that Pris Roos has been selected to participate in UNFAIR26. For the occasion, she will present Pulang Kembali – Return Home, a new series of works presented in collaboration with Mini Galerie.
The new series is inspired by a recent visit to Bogor, West Java, where Roos gathered inspiration for the works. Her family was born and raised in Bogor and migrated to the Netherlands in the 1970s to create a better existence.
In recent years, Roos has been thinking more and more about these words: “a better existence.” What does this mean for a child of immigrants, living in a world where you will never be seen as Dutch, but as foreign? And what does it mean when you return home?
Pulang Kembali – Return Home portrays city life in Bogor as well as its surrounding nature, through works on paper and recycled cardboard collected from her family’s toko.
