Studio Visit Matthew Allen

On one of the first summer days in The Netherlands we had a look around in Matthew Allen’s bright, little studio above his apartment in Amsterdam West. Originally from New Zealand, Matthew moved to Amsterdam two years ago together with his girlfriend to experience life in Europe. In his studio Matthew presented us a beautiful new series of works on paper, characterized by subtle, atmospheric gradients of tone.

A selection of these artworks will be part of our coming exhibition The Future Will Be Different curated by the artist himself. For this exhibition Matthew invited three befriended international artists – Michael Bennett, Daniel Hollier and Jeffrey Cortland Jones – who all share an interest in the fundamental aspects of painting, particularly color, materiality and perception.

The Future Will Be Different opens on Friday the 3rd of June, 18:00-21:00.
